Once we’ve devoted our lives entirely to our family and our careers, we can sometimes feel like those dreams we used to revel in have passed us by because we lack the same amount of energy that we use to have to run after our dreams. Somewhere down the road we become complacent and satisfied with the good enough and it becomes super easy to say I’m too old to make my dream a reality or it’s too late, my time is gone.
However, to quote C. S. Lewis, “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”
I believe that as long as you’re having desires for something else and receiving creative ideas then it’s not too late. We just lose the gumption to take action. I want to encourage you today to take action!
- Write down those desires and ideas that come to you in your mind, in your heart and in your spirit. Keep pencil and paper with you. I receive a ton of ideas during the night, so I keep a pencil and paper on my nightstand. I noticed long ago that I lose my ideas if I don’t write them down.
- Ponder on those desires and ideas. Some are just whims but some are quality desires and ideas that can improve your life and the lives of others. Share your desires ideas with your partner and trusted friends. Think and talk about your desire or idea constantly. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7).
- Jot down three steps that will help you accomplish your desire or idea. For instance, if you want to go to Paris. You’ll need to choose your itinerary dates, Book a hotel and flight, show up in paris. Then, go back and break down each of those three items into actionable steps with a deadline.
- Take action. Come out of complacency and do something everyday to help you attain your desire or bring your idea to fruition. If you still have breath in your body then you have more work to do, so I suggest you get busy.
Now, it’s your turn…
